Laboratory of Geological Architecture
Faculty of Mining and Geology,
VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava

of academic and applied research, by leveraging
the tools of structural geology and sedimentology.
Research focus:
Our research focus is structural geology and tectonics. We always like to combine academic rigour with applied results, targeting geothermal and hydrocarbon industry.
- Continental break-up processes and their controlling factors
- Thrustbelt development and its controlling factors
- Geothermal system development and its controlling factors
- Fracture development prediction
Staff:
The amount of LAGEA staff varies from year to year, spanning between 5 and 12. It consists of three VŠB employees and a number of BS, MS and PhD students working as research assistants on research projects.
VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava employees:
- Michal Nemčok – Structural Geology
- Lucia Ledvényiová – GIS
- Samuel Rybár – Structural Geology/Sedimentology
Active projects:
Project TK05020137
“Development of the play-fairway system for the low-temperature geothermal system exploration in sedimentary basins; with application to the Vienna Basin” funded by Technological Agency of Czech Republic (March 2023 – March 2025).
